Heh. this last weekend I spent a couple of hours at our local watering-hole/restaurant making noise again. The muscles are coming back…..
I’ve used a neck-up for close to two decades without any issues. Just keep it clean and don’t leave it stuck on.
I did a four-hour thing on Friday….wow. It really was effortful. The music was easy but the aftermath is painful.
That was a great day. Every instrument in that photo is better than the others in one way or another – that was a very special day for playing 😀
My first favorite album was probably the Kottke/Fahey/Lang dragon album. I learned ‘Cripple Creek’ and ‘In Christ There Is No East Or West” off it pretty much immediately, and a few other tunes later on.
Last favorite…hmmm. I keep finding new things. Maybe the current last favorite is Larkin Poe’s latest record, or the T Sisters’ latest. I’m open to hearing stuff, more so than ever, and it’s been a treat. We’re awash in great music these days.
They’re something that I came across as a stroke of luck, and figured Daniel would make better use of them than I would. The LENO is apparently some sort of legendary bluegrass cap that is said to work with either mandolin or thin-neck banjo, and has a wicked cool clasp to hold the bar down, and all the padding so you don’t ding the neck.
The other one is just….neat. It can put a lot of clamping force on the neck for sure.
