We all must go.
To quote Woody Allen, “ I’m not afraid of dying; I just don’t want to be there when it happens.
A few years ago we lost Mad Dog. Bob and his wife Tomi opened up their house to SCGC players one night with Indexless(?) DigDog, Daniel, Eric Skye, Alex Brumel, and yours truly. Lots of playing, conversation, the love was expanding. It’s been a few years, so I may be mixing different nights.
That was quick!
Mahogany is a Best Buy. I love its sound. Brazilian is overrated, just like the Tree. Prices are ridiculously high and the resale is punishing. It’s like buying a Lexus instead of a Toyota. Both get you to the same destination,
I have three Brazilian guitars, each with a different top wood. I also have Wenge and Mahogany. Tops are Adirondack, Carpathian, German Spruce, and Sitka.
Daniel, please give the details on the MXR Distortion pedal, and hugs to the family as well.
New Eric Skye cheaper than used.
Me want.
Time to bring a Grateful Dead Jam to a local pub.
Darie hits the half century mark in 2020. I want her to see Paris. Saving money now.
Maybe in 2020. 2019 is already spent.
I never saw Jerry look at his guitar neck. He was always looking straight ahead the dozen plus times I saw either the Dead or the Garcia band. My bands King Crab, Dwarf Rat, Lima Bean Wrist Rocket, The Huckleberries/Dead Country, have been playing the Dead catalog since 1975 when were in college. With a pedal steel player now, we really twist it sideways. Dark Star was my intro to playing Mixolydian. Plenty of songs are Major Pentatonic with Chromatic runs and doses of blue notes to connect phrases. One series of phrasing actually reminded me of a John McLaughlin’s ever changing riff patterns with Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Jerry was always searching for the sound, finding it more often than not.
How will I fly my Brazilian Dread to France?
Go to the SCGC page and dig into the Design Your Own section : https://santacruzguitar.com/d-model/#DesignOwn
You will find Brazilian starts at $10,500 and goes to $14,500. It’s like buying a Lexus. It’s going to lose value as soon as you take it home, but you pay the premium to get the best.
Tuned down to C and capoed at the 5th fret sounds different but very good on my Dread.
The replacement price of my Dread Cutaway with Brazilian back and sides, Brazilian Binding, headstock overlay, and Baggs Anthem is $19,000. In 37 years the price has gone up 900%.
September appears open.
We are lucky to see each other every December.
