It just hit Bakersfield.
no bike riding until it clears up.
Hey there Blue! Congrats on getting a Cruz. I found that fake nails consisting of plastic tips with acrylic overlay gave me tone that sounded like a tortoise shell pick on every finger.
I generally prefer Elixir Nanoweb Strings, light gauge on my guitars.
My Cruz Dread Cutaway came with Medium Tension SCGC Strings After factory refret. My aging hands and I decided to tune it down to C Standard and the C equivalent of DADGAD. It sings now. In the future, I will try the low tension strings.

Friends and Fans of Tony Rice. With many inquiries regarding Tony, I’d like to say thank you (!), each and everyone, for your kind thoughts, prayers, wishes, songs, and stories of your moments touched by Tony and his music. Tony is still dealing with debilitating conditions which prevent him from doing what he’s built his entire life around, and that is, PLAYING HIS GUITAR. It is EXTREMELY emotional, and difficult for him, but it is something he deals with on a daily basis, and takes it one day at a time. He does hope to play again one day, but until he is able to get back out there, all we can do, is try to encourage and support him in any way we can. Tony is a very private person and had to be persuaded to allow us to make a plea to his fans for support, ( to which you’ve all been so kind and generous and shown Tony that you DO WANT to help him, which has done a great deal towards his healing❤️). That said, I want to remind everyone that every single dollar that is sent, has no administrative fees added. There is no office to which salaries must be paid. It ALL GOES TO TONY. As far as this Facebook page goes, I am picking up where we left off a couple years ago… ( too long of a story why there has been a lapse in posts here, on this page ) so, we will make an effort to let fans know how and what Tony is up to. I’ve added an email address for Tony and he will hopefully be checking it, so, feel free to leave him messages either here, or at the email address (tonyricefoundation@gmail.com) Again, on behalf of Tony Rice, THANK YOU from the depths of our hearts ?

I am looking for a copy of FBJ #3 to complete my set.
I don’t think I was using the K&K preamp I got from Eric that day. It went straight into the pa and was too bright. The K&K in the Brondel is a bit fatter and rounder. The K$K in the Northwood is the best of the three.
I find the K&K preamp to be far better sonically than the Baggs PADI I have,
I am not impressed having looked it over.

I have Anthem in my Cruz. I like the sound, but my band hates it. They prefer the K&K in my Brondel and Northwood.
I paid extra for it. Still waiting.
I read every one of their rules. Nothing was broken by putting out an invitation.
Taylor owners.
nuff said.
Sitka is really a wonderful top wood. Congratulations,
Luthiers Kathy Wingert and Laurent Brondel tell me they love using it for tops with Brazilian Rosewood, but most buyers shy away from it.
Guitarist Larry Pattis told me he prefers it to all other kinds of spruce.
My Dread is Sitka Brazilian and I just love it.

I bought Eric Skye’s K&K pre amp. Beats the Baggs’ PADI completely. I go into the pa from there. My Cruz has the Baggs Anthem. I like it. The band hates it. They prefer the K&Ks in the Brondel and the Northwood. I find the Northwood has the best sound of the three.
I didn’t make it to Schoenberg’s this time. The guitars are owned by David Seigler. Daniel might remember him from Fran Guidry’s picking parties.
I don’t know about Mill Valley guitar shop, but Amazing Grace is right where San Rafael and San Anselmo meet.
the B Bender had all the Tele Twang a boy could ask for at rehearsal today. It needs a truss rod tweak and a new saddle to really make it sing.
SCGC was my final stop on a ten day trip.
I started by loading up my truck with the granddaughter and boyfriend’s boxes for a move from Hollywood to Portland. The day I left was the day I5 closed three hours before I got to Redding. It took four hours to drive from there to Arcata. Only 133 miles through the spectacular Trinity Widerness, the first 17 miles took an hour. The road was one lane due to the Carr Fire that had burned trees, structures, and vehicles everywhere.
I stayed with friends mostly in such wonderful Oregon towns as Monmouth and Creswell. Creswell tempted me with two custom Bozo guitars, a Simon Fay, Thomas Rein, and an Anders Sterner Classical.
Then I spent four days in Terra Linda, the cheap northern side of San Rafael. Dinner in Sausalito followed by picking in Mill Valley, where I got my hands on a glorious Wingert E of Cocobolo and German spruce, a John How Ladder braced, and I swapped my Kenny Hill New World Classical for a B Bender Tele until I am sick of it.
By the time I got home, I had driven 2,022 miles.
Since the demise of the Collings forum, this one needs to step up.
