HEY Y’ALL…. I need your thoughts on this…… I respect all of your thoughts.
May 25, 2021 at 10:57 am in reply to: Posted Original Songs on SoundCloud highlighting my SCGC 00 #5810Well done Mate…….sorry for the loss of your Mom . You used her “Gift” in a wonderful way . She’ll smile with every note Y’all play.
This will lead you to MANY more articles about The Tree”.
You will learn that Richard Hoover was one of the first luthiers to build with that wood.
I am the proud owner of the 4th guitar that Richard built using “the Tree”……..It is signed by Richard and is truly an exceptional guitar.
It’s a Beautiful Thing.
Yep…Saddle up and post Barber.
I also checked your SoundCloud…….nice stuff.
Thanks Bert……. I had forgotten about old Andy’s Video.
I have now “Bookmarked” it for future reference.
Thanks Andy….very good video.
As I expect to place a deposit this coming week with Eddie’s Guitars for my 75th Trip Around The Sun SCGC 000, I had a question…….Who at SCGC says YEP this is exactly the guitar that the client wants and it is sonically perfect and cosmetically meets our SCGC standards.
I know that all who are involved with the build talk with each other and have input into the final finished product…..but is there ONE (Richard ?) who says “I know this is what we want to send to the player” ?
I remember when I had sent the final payment to the dealer that I bought the 34 Zorro from (a month before I played the guitar at the 40th) and had sleepless nights thinking “What if it’s a dud”. I have since learned that “Dud” is not a word that can be used with SCGC .
But, I’m still curious if there is one person who gives the blessing to ship their guitars .
You asked me to list the recording equipment. 🙂
So yours and Dee’s vocals were recorded with Neumann TLM 103 microphones. Your vocal went into an API 312 mic pre, and Dee’s into a Neve Portico mic pre.
Your guitar was recorded with a Neumann KM184 through an API 312 Mic pre and Di’d with a StudioSpares DI Box through a Neve Portico mic pre.
I would love to have Richard settle the “Opening up” question once and for all.
As most of you know I’m working with SCGC on a final custom build for my 75th “Trip Around The Sun”.
It will be a 000 from A.B/and Moon spruce.
At 75 I am not going to be able to say …..”I can’t wait to hear this in 10 years when it opens up”.
I get the whole relaxation theory and find it perfectly reasonable. But, I’m talking about the woods that SCGC uses on their instruments.
If the wood used is old /properly stored and of a tonal quality that is good enough for SCGC to use in the first place does further ageing really make enough difference to hear 10 years from the original build date.
I mean does 3,000 year old bog oak sound better at 3,010 years old ????
Now that’s an advertising shot.
Ah Bert….a leap of faith at our age is NEVER too late……..I use SCGC lites on the FTC, OM and O.T.
Chris (digdog) put Elixer Nano custom lites on the F while it was on a visit to California and I really like the “Jazz” vibe they give to the guitar…. I’ve since bought another set of those string for a restring…..Horses for courses.
I use SCGC Mids on the 1934 D and the HD-28.
I’m using Spectrum 12 string sets for the Taylor….like them but really waiting for the SCGC 12 string sets to be released.
I have been playing the O.T. in drop D and DADGAD lately……it really sounds great with the lites and the strings are not TOO “Soft”….. but again waiting for the SC DADGAD sets.
Best to you….If Y’all ever get to The Gulf Coast of Florida come and pick a bit.

9 : pm EST …. A small dram of “green Dot Irish”… a double espresso…..a bit of “The Herb” and a SCGC FTC…..Yep….Embedded….
My dear friend Digdog….. I’ve come to the realization that the only way I can “Get Your Heads Right’ is to play your game ……I will express my free opinion and Damn the torpedoes ….but ALL the while tell Y’all how much I love and respect Y’all……..and by the way “Y’all is Not a derogatory term….. Neither is …”Well. Bless Your Heart”.
Look forward to a Special Notice concerning a “75th Trip Around The Sun” Gift to yours truly .

I learned how to play a 5 string banjo before I decided to play a guitar….. Mel Bay ,The Pete Seeger book and “Sing Out Magazine” were the only lessons I ever had .
To watch this podcast has been a true joy.
To listen to Happy reel off the names of all the Players and artists is like running through my pre teen and teenage mind when I was learning what a guitar meant to me.
With out a doubt this will be one of the Crown Jewels of your Podcast series.
Also Richard and Tad ….I am envious and jealous ……but in a good way ,of your association and closeness with the SCGC folks……This was a wonderful and inspiring show Y’all.
By the way …in the middle of it I grabbed my H-13 O.T. and was lightly picking it while I watched.
REALLY ,REALLY Good Y’all
