If Y’All had your choice of ANY 12 string model that our Maestro has built….what would it be ?

After listening to this …..I have wonderful flashbacks to Bob Gibson from the early 1960s….what do I sell to get one???

Remember “Walk Right In” by the Roof Top Singers ” ?……..Damn suddenly I NEED a 12 string ???

A Bentley?  Jeez – I think all mine probably add up to a nice used Audi –

Well a used Bentley ……..A VERY used Bentley.

              IMHO….Tony Rice Pro or 1934 Braz/Adi.

I would submit with All  IMHO.

Regardless of builder it is what each individual  hears when he/she makes the first strum on a guitar….It Is THE Most Personal of ALL inputs…..The first vibe, the first feel in the chest, the  first percussion of the ear drum, the first feel in the finger tips….ALL these things establish our attraction to an iconic builder.

I was a man who was very happy with a 1993 Martin HD-28…. I could not have imagined a better sounding instrument.

Then….I discovered a SCGC Da-1 at a Guitar Center in Ft Myers Fl.

Since the discovery of that guitar I have spent enough $$ on Santa Cruz guitars to have bought a Bentley and then some.

WHY ??…..because when I play them, their voices ( just me, for myself) let ME fly…. I can be free of all cares, I can sail into the wind and heel hard to weather……. I can SOAR.

I am a better player because of the artistry and the science that Richard Hoover and his tribe have created out of wood and glue and steel…….and the history they have learned from.

                Thanks.

                  Wonderful explanation of string/top/bracing interaction.

My question would be ….How does the material of the plectrum/Pick effect the  basic “Fundamental”?….or does it ?

Santa Cruz Picks in the future ?

A GREAT  COFFEE BREAK…….and I’m only an hour into it.

I wonder if Madagascar Rosewood is included ?

It was my understanding that SCGC was not going to use Madi on any new instruments and has not used it for several years…….anyone know .

                      A.S.

The O.T. signature H model i bought from Otis was his main touring guitar and of course very played in.

it is Madi/Italian. I bought it in 2014 so it was then 6 years on tour……I knew the depth of it the first strum at Denver Folklore Center.

I have never played a “new” Anything/Italian but I can say that my experience with a very young and lightly played Hog/Euro was amazing at first strum.

Hurricane Season is from June 1st to Nov. 15th….The humidity is why we have A/C.

It has never been 100 degrees here but the humidity can reach 90 % almost every afternoon during those months.

I tell Dee that I am buying a new A/C for her comfort……but it is REALLY for the Ramuda !!!

A $17,000 replacement A/C system has slowed down the ‘Blue Hole”…….If I want to keep being married to the most wonderful lady in the world, I have to provide A/C in Southwest Florida in May, June, July .August .Sep and b part of Nov..

I can take the heat ALL year around….but women “Of a certain age “cannot.

I’m sorry to tell you this but your answer lies in an instrument made of “The Tree”.

If you visit Fl. stop by and play mine…..then you will have found your answer.

After reading through ALL of this I have only 1 Question……Is the “Real” sound of an acoustic guitar best obtained through the use of onboard p/u through a mixer or is it more accurate reproduction to use a Mic straight to a high quality speaker. ?

Seems to me that our own Eric Skye uses Mics….or is that just the way that Mr. Newman prefers to record.?

I ask because my wife has a Yamaha board to a TubroSound 500 watt speaker or a Bose SoundPure to a Bose tower.

Both I have “Plugged” into and the sound just never seems to be as my ear hears it when I just play unplugged .

Is a Mic a better way to go? and if so what Mic ? I know to position at the 12th fret if using only a single Mic.

                                  Bert,

Just discovered your Soundcloud site….very nice stuff….REALLY like the “Midnight Rider” cut.

Inspired me to try my own version of it.
