True – they keep some of the seriously objectional stuff out, but they also let other stuff of highly questionable truthfulness get posted, and do a good job of stifling reasonable interchange –
on a thread about the possible effects of tariffs on musical instrument prices, I posted –
There is too much to this equation to make a reasonable evaluation – personally, I’m less concerned with tariffs than I am with the increasingly wary-of-the-US positions that are coming down the pipe from governments and businesses that used to look at us as solid friends and partners previously. That could have major impact on our good and services throughout the world -
Now – I actually got a couple of well-saids, and even a PM, but the posts (and any that referenced it) were quickly deleted. Meanwhile, posts like –
Because while the import tax war may hurt us initially, it will hurt them more- and if it is prolonged it will shift those imported goods away from them semi-permanently.
It is important for us to look at the impact of actions on multiple time frames. Let’s face it, nothing we do will be great in this moment. We’re in a hole. We have national debt, higher manufacturing costs, are not geared up for the kind of production we once had. But turning an economy is like trying to turn an oversized ship. It isn’t going to turn on a dime. But change over time has to happen. And some of it will be painful as we adapt. While we were happy getting cheap stuff made by cheap labor we had to know the party wasn’t going to last forever. We’ve seen others eating our lunch for a couple decades now. There is no such thing as a “consumer economy” at least in the long term. It’s like a corn farmer eating his seed corn- and you know how that ends. We cannot keep going down the same road. Anyone have other suggestions?
Thats is left up, along with numerous repeats of it – which I can only perceive as a pro-you-know-who ideology –
I like it here more – we just need to get more SC players to know we’re back!

Better if the pic actually posts, eh?
The only guitars I use the Mediums on are my baritones – Haven’t found enough benefit switching from lights on any other, but have wondered is the short scale F might gain a bit –
Def interested in what your feeling are about it!
Thats us to a T –
We’re playing a party in someones backyard tonite – first private gig for people we’ve never met – and they contacted us ’cause they went to our website and liked the “old-fashioned stuff” we play. Don’t quite know what to take of that – all seems rather new and contemporary to me –
But in taking the gig, one of our biggest concerns was if we could roll our equipment in – we are definitely getting too old to be our own roadies – ;-0
You know, there are some good little mics you can plug into your iphone or ipad that do a darn nice job of getting a good recording. Go for it!
Wow! You waited 2 years? I’d be all healed up from selling that kidney by now – but its pretty amazing your family came together and got that for you. What a great fathers day!
June 16, 2018 at 6:38 pm in reply to: I appears that someone forgot to cut the hole in the sound board strut that bloc #913Are you sure? I don’t think any of my SC have a drilled brace – just an access hole in the neck block where a socket fits – but I do not have a Tony Rice – I’m also in Berkeley –
Incredible- thats really nice –
Looks like a mahogany ’29, your OMG, and some beautiful koa on an all koa H13 maybe? Its clearly in good company!
Great to hear you found a guitar to really bond with, and great to hear you’re on the mend! Its scary to think how a simple accident can take away something that way. But its good to know you didn’t give up and are getting it all back!!
Gorgeous FTC at the Music Emporium, but its got that durn 1-11/16” nut –
I am dreaming about a rosewood FTC, and that just might become a reality in my lifetime – but I’m trying to not get my hopes up too high – yet – this should probably be a different thread –
Well, unfortunately its one of those models that has a 1-11/16” nut, so its not one I’ve been particularly lusting after. I can say that I have had a couple of their mahogany dread-like guitars, and they’ve been wonderful. But they were not the VA, so I can’t offer specific comments on that. Since it would be a special order left-hand, I’d suggest calling the shop, especially if you have specific concerns or questions. Richard is usually quite happy to talk to customers (if he has time) and he could offer the best feedback for you.
Also, you might call Lefty Guitars Only, who have a couple lefty Santa Cruz in stock, and may have had a VA go thru their shop. They may be the best source to understand any specific idiosyncracies about SCGC and lefties.
Wish I could help more – but all I can say is I’ve rarely been disappointed by a Santa Cruz –
those are probably easier to find –
Now I want a Tree SC – ;-(
I think the pins with the larger slots (grooves?) should be used with the larger strings, and smaller slots on small strings. Its possible the pins or pin holes were adjusted very slightly individually at the final set-up bench, but I’d double check your ball ends are all sitting properly against the bridge plate. If you could post a pic, maybe it’d be easier for Richard to understand and respond to –
