Just like a baseball glove….. Neets foot oil and elbow grease.
When I listen to Williams or Skye or many others my first thought is “All My Guitars are FOR SALE”!!!!
The Friends- NLN is a song written by a songwriter/singer friend of Dee’s.
He has given up Demon Rum and has been attending AA meetings.
This is a song about the folks he has met at those meetings
The recording is real time with him singing and me backing him with the SCGC OM.
I was flattered he asked me.
THANKS Richard (Big MON) Newman for helping me post this.Sorry can’t get the song up.
Two Class acts.

If that is the case , Yo Comprendo Mucho

Your welcome…but Hassome is the instigator .
October 5, 2021 at 7:25 pm in reply to: Santa Cruz Coffee Break #32 Zoomin’ with Mike from Sylvan #6423The sort of off hand comment that Mike made that Richard gets choice of the best tone woods and everybody knows it was interesting…..I guess 45 years of history and ethical business practice make a difference when your dealing with the tone wood suppliers.
Would love to hear Mr. Hoovers stories of obtaining those woods.
I saw that some time ago…..first thought was ‘How Cool”…..then realized that Maestro Hoover has spent 45 years designing string that were meant to be “Picked”. and if I want to learn to use a bow ,I’ll get me a Fiddle.
An Update….. I finished this book today and will send on tomorrow….but , let me say that it is a “true and Real” insight into what all is involved in the creation of the instruments and the Tone woods that we all love. I think the conclusions in this book make it incumbent on we who are fortunate enough to “care take” and pass on these creations of nature, time , and human artistry to understand our part in the timeless pairing of wood , steel and musical expression.
SCGC’s Richard Hoover is quoted several times and the final conclusions of the book are what the Maestro has based his teachings, artistry and company soul upon.
I also realized that in my old age I have become a Guitar Nerd/Snob…..So Be it…. there are worse things to be. LOL
Paul,
What did you think of the statement that “true” Dalbergia nigra “Have cells whose dimensions are proportional and in sync with the wavelengths of guitars” ?
Would love to hear Maestros thoughts.
Thanks for starting the “Road trip” of the book.
Looks like Derek posted first.
So….Derek PM me your mailing address and Matt sent a PM to Derrick with your address as you’re next .
I’ll finish by end of week.
Thanks to Paul for starting it.
Catfish has it ALL Go’in On.
There is a whole lotta “Southern Delta” in that man’s Soul.
First heard him at the SCGC 40th weekend………I was grinning during his whole set.
The Redwood says “Gnarly Dude” and the Adi says “Wicked Cool You Betcha”
Paul,
You have the power of Observation my friend. I was wondering who might notice.
Someday we can discuss the attributes of particular woods to use in the building of Boutique Sling Shots….Mine is North Carolina Hickory with Road Aged Firestone rubber bands from a 1953 Ford “Boot Leg” V8 with a Texas Longhorn leather sling.
The perfect 3Rs (round river rock of aprox. 45-50 caliber ) are in my pocket………
I’ don’t know if I need a CCW for the slingshot in California…… But sure as Hell not in Ga. or Florida.
