Watched it this morning….Richard Hoover shows a side of himself to all of us that is seldom seen .

When a certain age is achieved one’s insights are seen through a different prisim………I like him even more.

      Happy 45th birthday to SCGC………

Bert, That was my FIRST thought also….but, it’s more stable than I first thought.

I’ve never been able to play anywhere near “clean” standing up. I grew up watching the  Old gods playing in the coffee houses and bars of Chicago in the mid 60’s and they all played what we would call “Half-Assed” standing.

In places like “The Gate Of Horn”, ” Mothers”( in the early years)  the early Second City and many others on Rush St. and the Near Northside the Old gods would play.

The set would start with the player having one “Cheek” on the stool and the opposite leg  to the floor with the foot on the stage.

As the night progressed the old gods would place both “cheeks” on the stool and rest both feet on the cross bars of the stool and “Leannnn” into the song…while looking with, hooded eyes, at the Coffee House (Stoned, Hip, may I say Beatnik) crowd (well maybe 8-10 paying customers).

I guess I always thought that was how one played the guitar in front of other folks………Fun to recreate that memory with some degree of comfort.

                I’m a Very Lucky Man.

But it needed one very important addition…..Just to make it perfect.

I Really like the chair……I have to “do It Right” when sitting in that position….

I have to make an effort to use it…. I’m so used to laying back or hunching over in my TV chair…..but the chair is far more comfortable. I can play longer with less back/shoulder discomfort

I can raise up the sheet music stand so I don’t have to bend over to see my music.

All in all I like the chair very much…..

Matt Chukka called me today and told me to listen to the video of the newly arrived SCGC Style One that he demos.

This is the same wood combo that I , Matt, Carolyn Sills and Maestro Hoover have specked for the 75th TATS ooo that I will receive at the end of Jan.

Matt was blown away by the sound of this “Parlor” size and he told me how excited he was about the idea of these wood combos in a 12 fret , slot head 000.

So much so that he plans on ordering the same combo in OM and OMG if the BW is available.

As this is my last custom build and my 75th birthday present to myself we all spent a good deal of time on the wood selection…….All seem very pleased with the final choice of  VSOP Blackwood and Moon Spruce.

Watch his face and look at his body language as he plays…….

He called me this morning . He wanted me to know how excited he was about our guitars potential…..He brought a bit of light into my day.
