Yesterday I started by playing my Gibson F9 mandolin. I’m working on learning Ashokan Farewell and in the process transferring it to my new violin. Then I took out the Lowden I acquired. Walnut and Cedar, it is an 023c, jumbo body size with a cutaway. Then I took out the Merrill OM 28 for a spin. Finally I took out the Cruz.

      All are very good.

      The Cruz is great,

I am playing mandolin and guitar daily.

My violin arrived Monday. I am transferring my Mando songs to the fiddle.

i am working on the Huckleberry Rag, dedicated to our lost dog, Huck. He’s been gone 41 days. The Huckleberry Rag is in A. It’s a 1-4-5 with contrary motion over the A and D, fingers and notes ascending and descending. It is a knuckle buster.

I put the blues band on my front porch to play for all who passed by. Within 30 minutes, the sidewalks and street had neighbors and others from nearby blocks enjoying free music. In between songs we kept announcing the six feet apart rule.

I started with my Tele and switched to the PRS Gold Top Double Cut with Soap Bars plugged into a PRS 50 watt H series tube head. I got a fatter tone and loosened up. Requests came from many folks to play every Sunday for the duration of isolation.

The previous link didn’t give what is was supposed to, a memorial to Mad Dog.

Mad Dog, Bob, was a unique individual. The last time we saw him at home with his lovely wife, Tomi, he showered us with attention and love.

                    We miss him still.

Just one Cedar back brace is all it takes.

I have been looking for a FireFly on Reverb. Found one under 4K. I’m currently fighting GAS for a Collings 290 at Gryphon. It’s not going well.

                                  Sitka, the Magick Spruce.

Two of the best sounding Cruz Missiles I have played had Sitka tops.
