these guys might be able to date it for you.Daniel
Great stuff. When are you moving to France? 😉

Whew! Mixes completed!
Track order set as well. Decided to go for album listening experience rather than best material first.
CD tentatively titled Windrush (it’s the name of an instrumental track and it touches an important socio-political experience)
Half the material on the last CD was non-original. One-quarter this time. Next CD (if there is one) will be 100% original material.

Fender made a few of these here in Europe in 2002 for the European market (I think) as test. Their model number is FM-988. There are slightly cooler looking 4 string versions, FM984.
The paint is I think sonic blue, but they finished it with ageing toner. So now it’s somewhere between sonic blue and sea-foam green. They made a few red ones too.
Would love to get my hands on a FM984, especially with the same colour finish!
They got dumped on the US market in 2008 or so. And there aren’t a lot of them.
🙂
Wow.
Cool.
Wow.
Sorry. Where was I?
Wow, cool.

I dunno Matt H., I prefer getting old to the alternative.
People say kids will keep you young. That’s utter BS. I am reminded of my age most days.

Twelve string guitars are special beasties. Not terribly versatile but brilliant when done well and played well. My first real acoustic was a 12 string, and I left one in Modesto with a friend when I moved to the UK.
I think my love of 12 strings is what led me to mandolin family instruments.
That was a nice review form a veteran reviewer. 🙂
And I do like Teja’s playing as much as Eric Skye’s.

Wish I could have been there! The commute is a bit of a stretch. 😉
My daughter sang in the children’s choir in the cathedral’s Christmas show. She’s in a special music program at school, and her music teacher complimented her voice after the show. Proud papa, me.
Her teacher has asked me if I am interested in singing in the men’s choir. I might just.
Hope you all had lots of fun.

If I were to get a new guitar, it would be a Firefly.
My poor hands are so used to mandolins now that playing my own Rainsong with the 11.75″ nut was really uncomfortable!

None in the set list at the moment. But I can manage Ripple and Friend of the Devil. 🙂
Time for Swing 39 and Swing 42? Hmm. Might be a cool idea. Django Reinhardt was French.
Thanks gents!
For that tune I was going straight through the pedal board with nothing engaged and into a Marshall MG30CFX. The Marshall was mic’d.
I use ONLY the clean channel on that amp. The rest are rubbish. But I crank both the gain and the volume all the way up and adjust the break-up by adjusting the master volume. Julien thinks I play too loud. 😉
So when I go to chords, you can hear just a tiny little bit of overdrive. I backed off a bit after the third chord so I wouldn’t step on Julien’s melody playing.
That particular emando has a Kent Armstrong humbucking pickup hanging on the end of the fretboard, and it’s fully acoustic in construction rather than chambered. A real Jazz box. So it was designed for as warm as sound as possible for a soprano instrument. Which is all probably why it sounds Garcia-like.
Depending on the song I add some more overdrive, a bit of compression, a bit of mid-range EQ boost, or a straight boost. When we play “Wish You Were Here” I use an octave pedal for the melody bits.
I get a Trey Anastasio sound when adding a bit of compression and overdrive. 🙂

I told my 5 year old, who has never had a Thanksgiving holiday, what it is. He said, “How do we say it in French?” “Bon Thasnkgiving!” I replied.
Alor… Bon Thanksgiving a tout mes amis Americain!
