That’s a beautiful guitar!
I’d not have thought to use mahogany. I bet it sounds a lot warmer in 6 months without losing any articulation.
🙂

Hi Tad,
It worked really well! The only reason I was at all unhappy with it was that the sound guys were rubbish and they could not put the stage together properly. Going through the PA alone left me entirely at their mercy.
If my car was closer to the venue, I would have run for my amp.

Just the one GAS curing Adi/mahogany dreadnought guitar. (Though recently I have been dreaming about a Firefly…)

Actually, That’s a thought. Bill Kirchen reverses his control plates and uses the volume knob a lot.

Well… You could always do what Eric Skye does on the dusty end of the fretboard. Jethro Burns always said that there’s no money up there anyway. 😉
Should I be checking the mail again?

Could you make use of a pair of mono volume pedals?
If so look up the Mooer Leveline.

Matt,
I would speak to two people (though you have probably already done so…) Eric Schoenberg himself and Stevie Coyle at Might Fine Guitars. If a 14 fret 00 with a cutaway can be found, they’ll find it!
I find gear a bit more accessible than guitars. It’s cheaper per item.

Oh yes, I have been. And the BluGuitar products as well.
Problem is there’s no where around here to test drive any of this.
Regarding the FBJ, take your time. I’m in no hurry.

The feeling of having a lot to learn never goes away.
It’s the travel not the destination that makes us.

I’m eyeballing a Boss MO-2 at the moment. It would be a useful tool.
And I’m always on the lookout for really cheap small amps. I have discovered that little solid-state amps like the Marshall G15R-CD can be dramatically improved by replacing the transformer and the op-amp with higher quality components.

Maybe I have misjudged the SJ200 all these years, but when ever I hear them being played (and this is both live in the room with one and on TV-mainly Emmy Lou Harris), they never sound like you’d think that should sound. There’s little bottom and buckets of top end. I hear a lot of the DGB and E strings.
That sound really works for Emmy Lou because she is usually playing with another guitar player, electric guitar, keys, what have you. All of those fit into the general mid-range area and she sits comfortably slightly atop that.
I think RH & Co have always been looking for a more articulate sound than Gibson has ever gotten out of an SJ200. Mind you, if anyone could get an articulate sound out of an SJ200 the team at SCGC could.

It got down to 25°F here in north France at sunrise this morning. Deep frost on just about everything. My kids love it.
The new heater/water heater is performing like a champ, and the very expensive external wall insulation is keeping a good portion of that heat in the house. I’ll need to improve the insulation in the roof and insulate most of the ground floor to completely close the envelope, but we are cozy warm anyway.
If there were crocodiles and iguanas here they would be very unhappy. As it is the blackbirds, sparrows, tits, and robins are eating birdseed like they have no other source of food. (I saw a woodpecker hanging about as well.) I have to refill the feeder daily and make trips to the garden centre weekly.
Dry conditions make acoustic guitars sound great. But they can be detrimental to guitars given long term exposure or exposure to rapid changes in humidity. Enjoy the Ramuda responsibly. 😉

Safe travels Matt. Are you taking Darie and the dog?
🙂
Daniel
Wow.
I think that’s how I’d like to go.Daniel
