Sometimes the Universe provides. 🙂
Wish I could go for a bike ride! They’re currently illegal here and carry a 135 euro fine.
Stay healthy!

That’d be wonderful Matt.
🙂

Thanks Matt!
It was a weird one, what with the stay home order and all. A few adult beverages and adult conversation (even in my shit French) would have been nice!

Thanks Matt,
I had no idea that swapping tubes was a thing!
But I think my Ampeg Jet II uses EL-84s.
And now I wish I still had my 65 Fender Bandmaster 50w head!

Given Chris Thile’s ‘Live from Home’ efforts (in lieu of has normal weekly radio program), sharing video might be easier. 🙂

Thanks guys!
Stayed home with my family and our new trio of chickens, Dolly, Emmy Lou, and Linda. 😉

What draws me to electrics is tone control. You can control/tweak/change an awful lot more about the output of an electric than you can an acoustic. With modern low-wattage, low-power amps you can get tones that 20 years ago were only possible at anti-social volumes.
Do a lot of cross-over work: play your songs and tunes on the electric and tweak amp settings until you get a sound that serves the music. It’ll be there. And don’t be afraid to push the envelope.
Enjoy!

Call the shop. Talk to Carolyn. I bet they have a record of the build.
Daniel
Tad,
With all the amazing builders in the Bay Area, you went and bought an off-the-shelf guitar?! 🙂
Daniel
Looking at that photo I’d say the back & sides were mahogany. 🙂

March 10, 2020 at 9:44 am in reply to: Santa Cruz Coffee Break Lunch with Richard Hoover #8 Guitar tops part 2 #3942I enjoyed that. Thanks guys!
Is there some way you could credit the music you use at the opening? Maybe tag it on Soundcloud?
Thanks!

A man for whom the word ‘inappropriate’ had no meaning. 🙂
Reminds me of a scene in Hamlet:
…A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy… Where be your gibes now? Your gambols? Your songs? Your flashes of merriment that were wont to set the table on a roar?
He is missed.
Seeing his face makes me smile. Thanks Tad!
That’s a beautiful guitar!
I’d not have thought to use mahogany. I bet it sounds a lot warmer in 6 months without losing any articulation.
🙂

Hi Tad,
It worked really well! The only reason I was at all unhappy with it was that the sound guys were rubbish and they could not put the stage together properly. Going through the PA alone left me entirely at their mercy.
If my car was closer to the venue, I would have run for my amp.

Just the one GAS curing Adi/mahogany dreadnought guitar. (Though recently I have been dreaming about a Firefly…)
