It would be great to see what Richard says but as a woodworker and wood researcher, I think it would present a challenge. It is perhaps the heaviest (sinks in water) and hardest wood on the planet and often has interlocking grain. It’s difficult to work and is tough on cutting tools. It’s also oily and can be difficult to glue reliably. Having said this, I don’t build guitars and perhaps others, including Richard, might have better insights on its usability and functionality.

I guess I should have asked — do you have ANY Guitar Art, you’d like to share?

I have a few TC Electronic Polytune Clip-On tuners and think they suit me best. Easy to use, accurate and not as heavily influenced by background noise in a room as my Peterson clip-on tuners. But the Peterson StroboPlus HD is a close 2nd.

I did hear back from Karura directly. They asked for the serial # of the case and determined it was built to hold a Martin OM at 4-1/8”, tightly. However, if the foam permanently compressed to fit the SCGC OM, it might not be so perfect(loose) for my other 3 OMs when I travel — unless I put a towel under those guitars. I was trying to “multi-use”. Karura was great to deal wit. They were happy to send materials and directions for me to refit the bottom padding. It requires that I strip out the old mat and glue down a new one. It’s seems to be very uncomplicated. However, I decided to leave the case as it currently exists. It fits perfectly for my 1 Bourgeois Signature OM (4”) and 2 Collings OMs (4-1/8) for travel. I really like the Karura cases. They are lightweight and appear to be very rugged. They are one of the few companies that provide test data for crushing as far as I can see. I plan to order one specifically for my new SCGC OMG and perhaps another for the SCGC OM later. Those Ameritage cases are nice and quite durable, but I’m afraid to say — the heft of those cases are for young backs.
thanks for your reply,
Paul

I got mine today — MASTERFUL!

Yep, they do that all the time. The Collings Forum closed down a few months ago. Someone is starting a new Collings Forum at this LINK and announced it on AGF. They wiped the post that made the announcement and all subsequent mentions of the new Collings Forum. Froggy Bottom runs a raffle each year for a charitable cause, like health care for musicians, and whenever it is announced on AGF, it gets deleted. Weird behavior me thinks.

I’ve owned 3. I owned a beautiful Mahogany/Sitka H13, but never quite connected with it and sold it after a couple of years. I own a terrific EIR/Euro OM and an outstanding Coco/Euro OMG. I love these guitars – amazing! I just bought a Karura flight case for the OM to replace the monster Armitage case.
