Whoa !
TOO many to list here…..It started with my first phone call about a used SC D-a1 that I was considering buying at The Guitar Center In Ft Myers, Fl.. Carolyn Sill spenta 1/2 hour with me on the phone and researched the history and build specs and replacement value……I bought the guitar and sent it to the Mothership for recondtioning.
My last experience was just a few weeks ago when Brad sent me a new set of the 12 strings gratis. And in the same week I called about a “Dead” low D string in the DADGAD set I had just put on my new 000 ” Guiness”…… No problem…. got a new set in the mail in 3 days.
There have been so many times that I have picked up the phone and spoken with someone at SCGC (including Richard) and have marveled at their openness and personal interest in my situation.
I can’t even begin to thank the entire staff for what they sent me for my 75th bithday along with the 000.
Santa Cruz Guitar Company stands alone …….And I will pass on the stories of their excellence when I pass down my guitars to my family.
I envy your time in an old beach house. Here in S. W. Florida so many of our old beach houses have been demolished to build absolute monuments to bad taste . They are built like forts and because they are built on concrete pileings they tower 3-4 stories high. The very few old beach houses made of florida pine and cypress now sit between Mcmansions that block the sun and tower over the old places that have survived numerous Huricannes and tropical storms.
A old friend of my families still owns a house on Bonita Beach and when they visit from up North we gather to watch the sunset and play guitars……..The one overwhelming sense of that house is the aroma of old wood , Sea Oats , SaltWater and yes a bit of mold mixed with wood smoke. It’s like an old wooden sailboat. I hope they never sell it.
got the Schubb 12er capo thyesterday….works fine, holds tune well……a bit more “in the way” than the AWOL Elliott……but a whole lot cheaper !
Thanks for the help Y’all.
THAT would sure as Hell get me off the beach………….

A true Book.
I’ll pay shipping out but Y’all pay shipping back to me.
July 24, 2022 at 4:55 pm in reply to: Santa Cruz Coffee Break #47 Zoomin’ with John Stubbings (again) #7537Just finished …… IMHO this was the most enjoyable ,eclectic, entertaining conversation between 3 gentlemen who’s histrory with Santa Cruz Guitars , the American flat top guitar and our combined countries musical incubator that I have ever heard.
Just Wonderful…… A personal note about John. I purchased a “Mono” version of TDIII and when I emailed the order we started writing each other on a bit of a regular basis. At that time he was very early into the outlining of “The Guitar Detective”. and asked my opinion of some of his thoughts about the style and amount of copies he shoud release.
I told him that I felt conflicted in that I thought everybody shoud be able to enjoy the story….But that I was selfish enough to want own the 2nd copy of a very limited edition of the “color” version. I’m pleased to say he agreed.
I would also like to tell Y’all that John provided a “get well” inspirational copy of “The Devil Is In It” to a great friend of mine……..John is a truly nice man.

Thanks all for the prompt replies.
Took Chris’s and Matt’s suggestion ( I bought the Taylor 12er from Chris)and ordered a Schubb from Amazon…..Here tomorrow and I used points.
I still have the Elliot Tony Rice contribution model…..THAT WILL NEVER leave the house.
Matt at Eddies was kind enough to make a video for me with my last 2 purchases from him. My SC FTC and the most recent the SC 000.
They were both much appreciated and done prior to delivery to me.
Ask him to do the same for you …….but be aware you might cut short your beach home trip to play it yourself.
If he does a video please post here .
It is a thing of beauty
You’re so right Chris…. Alex played this really strange Travis style and I was ALWAYS just a beat behind.
He owned a SC VS and a SC P/w I think ….did he get one of those from you?
I know he had a Gibson Geb Mo ? at the end and I think he left the VS to Maryanne, and the P/W to his son.
He had a hard finish… we were due to visit him and he called and said he just did not have the energy…..he sailed over the horizon a couple of days later.
I really hope he is teaching the gods that may be how to travis pick…..
Pto,
The Kingston Trio (along with Bob Gibson, The Chad Mitchell Trio, and the Limelighters) were the largest influence on me in the beginning years of my guitar journey.
I really enjoyed Bob Shanes persona and voice.
I have searchrd on line for your article but can’t find it……..Can you tell me where I might locate it ?
With the price of gas I could buy another SCGC guitar for what it would cost me to join Y’all……NOW Theres a thought.
” Dee ,I have something I want to talk to you about “……..
Thank You Big Mon……You have expressed to me in phone conversations the amazing amount of bots and attacks that Y’all have to deal with every day. The amount of time you and Paul spend is so very much apprciated by the “Real” members of this forum.
A side note: HUGE congrats on your films positive reception…….
