That is a good read. It takes the reader into Wayne’s shop and home for an intimate look.

        Neil,

No apologies for your playing which is as articulate, sweetly sensitive and beautifully played as is your wonderful story documenting your Santa Cruz acquisition. Treasure each day as you watch your beautiful children grow and learn to appreciate the gifts of music and the love for them that you are embracing.

        Peace,

        Walter

I always measure the neck width at the junction of the nut and fretboard using calipers. I also agree that it only matters to the individual player, as there are so many variables that determine comfort and playability.

My ’90 Tony Rice is spec’d at 1-11/32, however it measures 1-23/32 with calipers. It is comfortable to play, but much more so when I capo on the second fret as I do have a bit larger hands. It’s all about ergonomics.

Ashokan Farewell by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason is one of the most beautiful tunes associated with Ken Burns Civil War series. I totally enjoy playing that on my ’90 TR. Usually at the end of the night when the house is quiet and still. It is always requested by my wife as she relaxes, content to listen with eyes closed….

I also play it in D, slowly, as it was written, but with my own take. Of course, not imitating Russ Barenburg’s beautiful work on the tune, but certainly inspired by it!

Another hauntingly beautiful tune, also in D, is O’Carolan’s Shebeg Shemore (my take on the spelling). Similar feeling to Ashokan Farewell.

                        Stay safe and well, friends,

“Oh Ward, isn’t Eddie such a nice, polite young man?” “Yes June, and a good influence on Wally and the Beave”

                          Eddie was the best! LOL

Been listening to a lot of John these last couple of days. His lyrics get deeper and deeper in meaning the more I listen. An amazing talented, crazy guy. Rolling Stone had a couple of great articles posted about his life and music.

                              Stay safe friends!

So sad. He has won so many battles in his past. Brilliant songwriter. Love that man.

Just the one. My ’90 Tony Rice, label signed by him. Top underside signed by Otis B. Rodeo and Jeff Traugott. It keeps sounding better all the time!
