Just stay high and dry and don’t let the hurricanes get you.

The remuda will keep you busy trying to play music that is as peaceful as those pics.

Just got here!  Going to be a good read.

….Lunch beer?   I’m not living my right life, apparently.  I gotta get to this retirement thing.

I didn’t know the designation, but I played one in 2013 at the Xmas party.  Basically pretty close to a perfect archtop. Big clear bottom end for a carved top guitar -Freddie Greene would have loved it.

If you don’t play it, and someone else will, then let it go.

And I don’t know what an FJZ is….

Nice. I’m looking for shallow body, though…

Yeah, good playing and good engagement with the audience all play a role.

Glad you got some good times.

For me, it has a lot to do with the rest of the neck.

I mean, I can play on just about anything, in the sense that it’s within reach, and I adapt – if I’m at an open mic, I’ll play the instrument that’s there.

But from a comfort-and-long-playing and general enjoyment perspective, a lot of the SCGC 1-3/4” necks have a particular profile – the soft V,  I think it’s called – that is as comfortable as it gets (for me, anyhow).   And I kinda hold out for that.

The narrower necks are often C-shaped and a bit shallow front to back – on a Strat or Tele, sure, but the depth and shape of the soft V is my preference on an acoustic.

So, while I can navigate on anything, I know what I prefer…

Excellent! Talked to Rick McKee and if he can take repairs, I’ll be coming your way Saturday, otherwise next week.

We actually have real, if hazy, sun today. The cars are covered in ash.  We’ve rinsed them clean a couple of times on the weekend, but it’ll be a while before everything settles.  We were joking that we’d lay some eggs out there, let them get covered in ash, and have California-thousand-year cured eggs…..

Got out on the bike and rode towards the bay yesterday (we have a trail to get there, so no cars to deal with).  The trail looks vaguely snowy from the ash fall and no rain, and bike wheels leave a trail.  Used the better mask after seeing that.

You may be right – some years ago, Central and Southern Europe was hit by a heat wave that buckled train tracks.  If what we see here is any indication, the world is drying up a bit.   BART shut down yesterday for a bit both bc of computer problems and some heat-buckled track….go figure.

Gonna take a lot of work to fix this old world, but I guess we don’t have a lot of choice if we want to keep living here 😀

The sun’s been really red today but we had a little actual sunshine.
