There is a local band here in Laon that owes a LOT to English blues-based rock.

      Sweet Scarlet

      I love their stuff.

Don’t listen to the lyrics, Caroline’s English isn’t great. In fact I want to offer my services to her in that reagard.  But her singing is amazing and the guitar playing of Patrick Hiblot is dynamite.

          So it’s “old music Thursday”?

Then I’ll add I ahve been re-listening to Led Zep 4 for the first time in a very long time.  I’m digging side 2 way more now than I did when I was a teenager.

          🙂

It’s work.  No doubt about it.
Happy to click on the traffic lights, identify boats, plug my password in 3x a week, whatever helps.  🙂

              Thank you gents!

Unfortunately, it was an over-busy Wednesday rather than a birthday, except for the gifts and the cards from my kids.

The celebration will be this weekend.  It’s jam party at mine.  Hop a plane.  You’re invited.  🙂

I Can’t Give You Anyting But Love, Baby.  Adrian Moignard.

All the Things You Are. Antoine Boyer

https://www.jazzautouquet.com/adrien-moignard/ (promo for the concert we attended)

A couple of weekends ago, Claudine and I took a weekend on the Normandy coast and attended a performance of a jazz festival in Le Touquet, a posh seaside town most famous at the moment for being Emmauel Macron’s home town.  (Seriously, it’s so posh the town symbol is the sillhouette of a golf caddy.  And people walk around in flat caps and tweeds, as though that was normal.)
ANYWAY… We saw Adrian Moignard and Antoine Boyer play together.  A wonderful evening of Jazz guitar.  I bought a CD from each of them.  Claudine gave my CDs to Antoine.  (no, the phone has not rung.  😉 )

                Enjoy!

                  appropos of smooth jazz…
I grabbed a copy of Sting’s Bring on the Night in order to learn Moon Over Bourbon Street… And listening to the whole two disc album, it struck me that Dream of the Blue Turtles and …Nothing Like the Sun are actually Smooth Jazz records!
I bought both Dream of the Blue Turtles and …Nothing Like the Sun new when they were released, and this just occurred to me on Wednesday!

Those first two albums are as sacred to me as new testament bible books are to a Southern Baptist evangelical preacher.

Good to know.  I was wondering.

And now I’m thinking about changing my handle to Naked Mole Rat.

Over the Hills and Far Away (Zep)  (Page was so ham handed on the acoustic …and don’t get me started on his mandolin playing… that attempts to reproduce the intro to this should be outlawed.)

Tad, I’m betting on 2024 being the year we all acknowledge the death of lethal COVID 19.  But I hope it’ll sooner than that.

Matt, Me too.  BTW, the guitar chair is open.  😉

Drew, I was trying to organize a SCGC Euro-meet before COVID.  It’s still there to do.  We’ll see how things progress (or regress) as the summer passes.  🙂

                              Hey folks,

I see that Matt (Old 97) has commented on a few threads, including this one.  But I’m not seeing his commments.  Is he in the dog house?  😉

                                Thanks guys.  🙂

I guess I’m just kvetching.  I have nothing to complain about; indeed everything to celebrate.  I have an amazing life here in France.
I have made time for yoga on a Tuesday night, choir on Wednesdays and Fridays.  I’ll fit some manual practice in in Thursdays maybe.  😉

                                hugs to all,
