Dwarf Rat was a name given to me one night while we drove home after seeing a Grateful Dead movie. We’d been trying to come up with a name for our sloppy Americana train wreck of a band.

It hit me like a bolt if lightning:

Wharf Rat became Dwarf Rat.

We play a mix of Dead from 69-72, Hot Tuna, Merle Haggard, Taj Mahal, Bob Wills, Leon Russell and my originals.

Having a pedal steel player ups the ante.

I have been playing Dead since 1972.
