Oh wow!! That’s gonna be one helluva guitar!!
Wow! That’s a super cool guitar!!
It’s horribly windy and rainy here today and I’m off! Perfect time to have a coffee and listen to this π

Me again! Just a quick follow up and I’ll leave you all alone!
I love this little guitar! Restrictions finally eased here in Ireland and I was able to get it to my luthier for a service. It felt great to me but as it was built in 2018, I wanted to make sure it was ok.
The luthier called me and said the action was a little high. I told him I like a high action so he said he’d put it back in the case for me to collect because it’s perfect. He mentioned that it’s very rare a guitar doesn’t require any attention after a few years (played or not). He also said “… And it looks great!”
I left up another new guitar with him and it has the dreaded hump at the neck joint. It needs a full refret and the fretboard to be shaved down a bit. π oh well, at least my Santa Cruz is perfect!!
Can’t wait to see your new build!! ?
Yes, I too appreciate the work that goes into them and really enjoy them! They’re great!
I’ve watched an interview with Richard Hoover before where he stated that it makes a bigger difference on lesser quality instruments, not so much on his Guitars. I’m paraphrasing of course but that was the general message. They are a bit of a pain to restring but I got it pretty much perfect on my second attempt. I’m weirdly looking forward to doing it again! Haha! They look so pretty and isn’t that what its really all about??! I jest!

Thanks!! I have to say, I’m really impressed with it. The detail is incredible for a relatively cheap mic. It’s very bright which works for me because I’ve ordered a ribbon mic to pair it with for mid/side recording!
That’s an excellent tip! Thanks Bert!
Yes, paddle heads are so much easier to restring but I do love the aesthetic of slotheads. It went a lot better this time I have to say and all strings seem to be holding tension! π
I got a new mic in the post this morning (AKG C451 B) and I really love how this guitar records. A touch of compression, remove the low end rumble and add a tiny bit of reverb and you’re done! Perfect recording guitar for me so I don’t see this one going anywhere anytime soon!

</p>Strings came! A slightly neater job this time… Hope they hold tension! I use coated strings so won’t have to do that job for a while (thankfully)!
“Open and airy and friendly” – that’s actually a great description Matt! The Don Edwards is just so different than any other guitar I’ve owned. My other guitars currently are a big boomy J45 and a very nice midrangey voiced Lowden. The DE is very balanced indeed. I just need to give myself time with it. The wide neck is also challenging to be honest. I assume your 00 29 has a 45mm neck?
Still waiting for my strings to arrive, hopefully they will come today.
Thanks for the input Matt! -
