ParticipantHello,
Can anyone make a recommendation on strings for a SCGC OM Short Scale in Cocobolo/German Spruce? I play about 50/50 with a pick and fingers, singer-songwriter type stuff. Curious to know what string preferences you have for you Cruzes.
Thanks,
Chris

ParticipantGringo1,
I use SCGC light tensions on my OM, Otis Taylor H and the F cutaway.
I used Elixer PBs until SCGC introduced their strings.
Now the Remuda gets SCGC on the Saddles.

ParticipantI’ve had great luck with D’addario EXP-16s on my SCGC OM, EIR/German. They sound & feel good for my taste, and they last a long time. I like SCGC lights too and use them on my H-13, but I don’t like them as much on my OM.

ModeratorOn the short scale, you light consider the medium tension too – depends on how you play, but on the short scale the low tension can almost feel too soft for anything but fingerstyle –
Lots o’ SCGC guitars! But never ask which is my fav

ParticipantI happen to have a new (6 month,s) SC Coco German ss. Looked at a few sets of strings. D’Adario exp 8020 lights are great. Santa Cruz Mid Tension are excellent. The low tension for me not so much and I contribute that to the short scale. These are my two go to strings on that guitar. If some one else has a fav. on that wood combo let us know.
