After having 3 beautiful Santa Cruzes for years I find a need for a pickup. Looking for something light, uninvasive and quality sound that won’t break the bank. Research has lead me to the Mojotone Quiet Coil NC-1.  I’ll plug into a Fishman Loud Box. Has anyone used one of these pickups?

Never heard of it. I’m happy with K&K in my OM and Baggs Anthem in my Dread.

I’d never heard of that one – intriguing, but the batteries and such make me suspicious.

I’ve now installed 2 James May Ultratonic pickups, and I am still incredibly pleased with them. The tone is good, no batteries, no feedback when set-up properly – they’re just good, and simple to install. I don’t feel any need to look further –

I also have a Barbera Soloist installed in a Sexauer 0, and it is also extremely nice, but installation is trickier, and it replaces the saddle, so it’s not quite as simple – and I think its also a bit more expensive. It came with the guitar, and I really like it, but doubt I’d install another one at this time.

And ultimately, there’s the K&K – which is OK and does the job, but best thing about it is its an easy job to upgrade it to an Ultratonic – 😉

I’ve used the Baggs iBeam in the past, which is great at low volumes.

The Ultra Tonic does much the same thing but with the ability to tune the pickup to the instrument.

Thanks for all of your comments. I finally decided to try a Dazzo pickup system. Hopefully it turns out well.

My friend, Don Alder, told me about James May. Don has tried most every pickup available. He met James and NAMM and was knocked out.

Don and I talked at great length about it.

May has a fix for K&K. The 2 KK I have lose sensitivity in the treble range on my guitars. May has figured out how to fix that.

Yeah, the Ultra Tonic sounds good in Tad’s guitars….I may put one into the 00.
