I’m curious what some favorite methods of attaching a strap to an end pin jack are.

I have a plastic thing – the D’Addario cinch strap is what its called, I think – that has been the best thing I’ve found so far. It holds securely and is easy to attach to the strap end, and it’s never slipped off. But everything else I’ve tried on guitars that have a jack for an end pin has not been as easy -m

Thanks for that. I have the cinch strap doodad. It works but seems kind of clunky. I’m experimenting with a hole (and slit) just big enough to force onto the endpin. It used to be so easy.

I use a standard strap but I enlarge the hole slightly with a leather hole punch. I use a 7/16 punch I got from Amazon for less than ten bucks. Center it over the existing hole and place on a sturdy surface (I use  scrap of 4×4) and strike a time or two with a hammer. My straps stay on with no problem, I do have to work them into the groove on the jack from time to time, and that’s only the thicker straps.

That’s similar to what I’ve done but seems more precise. I’ll order a punch and give a shot. Thanks.

My Swiss Army knife( that I have had for 50 + years) has a small leather punch/blade…..works perfectly.

                    Hi all,

Just stumbled on this SCG-forum and it looks like a decent place so…

I tried them all and have a few of this D’Addarios laying around. They work, but I don’t really trust them on the guitar’s lacquer (a felt ring underneath helps) and the strap is attached  with a string and that looks strange.

On some guitars I now have the MusicNomad AcoustiLok https://www.musicnomadcare.com/Products/Acousti-Lok-Standard-Jacks/ Works nicely with some drawbacks like weight maybe but 100% reversible. Price is high but hey…

Mr. Paul….Glad you found us….we are a small but select (LOL) group.

thanks for the info on the Nomad product.

                      Do you play any SCs?

                        Hey Hank,

Thanks for welcoming me. I’m always a bit cautious joining groups like this because, well… you probably know how “self confident” people react to each other in the internet. I was in a coffee / barista forum once which turned out to be a hornets’ nest when I said I used a magnifying glass to evaluate grinding consistency. Left me with a case of digital PTSS!

I  found a nicely priced new-old-stock Firefly last year at a dealer here in The Netherlands that was to my perception the best player in his SG-assortment. Among my other guitars (high end Guild, Martin, Waterloo) it is sound-wise the biggest while dreadnoughts were my first choice when playing out unamplified. Came here while scanning the net for info on what wrench to use for adjusting the truss-rod. Always very rewarding to fine tune the setup after acclimatizing for some months.

Okay, back to the subject and adding to it: together with the Acoustilok accessory in my eyes it makes a really nifty “system” when you use a Richter guitar strap cable holder on the strap and cable. To me a good looking guitar should not be compromized with cheap looking accessories, carelessly assembled straps or even stick-on pickholders.
