Thought you guys would like this.

The Mandolin Cafe gets a strong mention.  I’ve been on it since before there was a message board.  Saw the take up on these picks happen in real time.

I have a Blue Chip somewhere around here…  Though I’m happy to use Wegen TF-140s and Dunlop PrimeTones which are half the price.  I also have one real ts pick.  I was using it last night in rehearsal.

Anyone else using unusual or rather expensive plectra?

I’m currently using Blue Chip and Charmed Life picks.

I have a Blue Chip, Charmed Life, but still rely on Tortoise shell and Prime Tone.

I gave a Blue Chip to a Mando player, and broke 2 Charmed Life.

Eh, I bought several types from boutique pick companies (even beta tested for one of them) and, while they are nice, so are the freebies the string companies give me. I think one of the things that makes boutique picks sound “better” is that the edges are polished. Not that the actual material is somehow superior.

I recently went through all the picks I’ve collected over the last 35 years and was surprised to find an obscure Japanese “Pickboy” ceramic/nylon with dimples on it was my favorite. Dunlop Ultex are still my go-to. I’m a tone snob and have no problem buying expensive gear, but I don’t feel that expensive picks are better, just different.

where the blue chip material and finishing comes in as indispensible, for me, is their thumbpicks for banjo.  they slide off that teeny 5th string withough getting worn, grooved or chafed.  Clean tone forever. Nik’s Apollo cassein thumbpicks are actually my favorites for guitar, at least aesthetically; it’s really a toss-up with blue chip as to tone and feel.

I’ve been doing a lot of YouTube viewing regarding BlueChip picks.  I think there may be something to them, curious to try on out.

Currently I am playing a .88 ProTone from Dunlop and I like it quite a bit, nice sound and feel.  However, like most guitarists I’m always looking to try something new.  Anyone care to share what their favorite BlueChip pick model is?

I like the Blue Chip TP 1-R 50

I also play the Charmed Life 1.25
