Greetings!
Ever since I saw Bob Brozman pick up his Bari #1 and getting to play it when he handed it to me at his residential seminar, I have been wanting one.
I usually find an ad after it’s been sold.
What string set could i use on Old 97 to get that deep, sonorous tone?
Thanks,
Matt

<p style=”text-align: left;”>In the last half hour I found a Cocobolo and Carpathian Baritone Dread Cutaway at a great price.

Negotiations are in my favor…-

Someone’s custom order no doubt.
Tuned down to G. I’ve made it to B with my Dread Cutaway.
Ships out Monday.

My friend Don Alder has turned me on to a new pickup guy. I actually like the Highlander.

I’m seeing a similar baritone with a cutaway, cocobolo and carpathian on the music emporium currently. The one they have for sale is from 2005. Is that your same one? If not, how are you liking the one you got?

<p style=”text-align: left;”>It came.

I played it.Sent it back.
It was a gorgeous looking guitar.
Sound was not what I expected.
It cost me $200 to return ship with insurance. Very expensive lesson.

Options for low end gratification (without buying a bass):
1. Go electric. There are some nice Danelectros out there, and electrics are easier to build.
2. Go mando – get a mandocello. Bizarrely, these are more available than baritone guitars. Eastman make some good ones.
🙂
