Lovely wood.
I like the yellow bits in the back too. Are they being excluded because of stability issues?

That’s awesome. That’s not a bad delivery date either. It’s food for thought.

This guitar will probably live the vast majority of the time I will enjoy it in DADGAD.
Will be voiced/setup/and strung for DADGAD. Old Hands are liking that tuning more every day.
A. Blackwood/ Moon Spruce.
Carolyn is out of touch till 7/12 so I sent a email asking about the Gold Sap wood……I too like the look.
It looks like the back outline cuts it out.

A bit of that sapwood could be included in the back, but thats an aesthetic choice more than anything else – personally, knowing a little about the intended decoration and concept, I’d be concerned it might be a bit of visual distraction rather than appeal –

In an email exchange with Carolyn I learned that (as most suspected) the sapwood was going to be an “out cut” and not usable on the 000.
She is going to send me the Out Cuts along with the guitar……..I’ll make something from the sapwood. A big Toothpick ???

Hank, make a truss rod cover out of the sap wood and put it on another guitar. 🙂

Good idea Daniel.
The Taylor 12er is the only guitar I have with a truss rod cover…..The gold sapwood might match the inlays on the headstock.

i prefer no sapwood if it can be avoided on a nice piece. spanish guitar makers seem to like it, especially. not me:) i like the way this one is traced!:)

Inlay of “Celtic braid ” in MOP on blank fretboard/body joint….no frets.
In the days of the Celtic Sailors the Sailor would “Braid” his hair into a bracelet and give it to his Lady and tell her “If I don’t return you will always have a part of me to remember how I love you”.
So I will leave this one to those I love.

Matt Chukka called me today and told me to listen to the video of the newly arrived SCGC Style One that he demos.
This is the same wood combo that I , Matt, Carolyn Sills and Maestro Hoover have specked for the 75th TATS ooo that I will receive at the end of Jan.
Matt was blown away by the sound of this “Parlor” size and he told me how excited he was about the idea of these wood combos in a 12 fret , slot head 000.
So much so that he plans on ordering the same combo in OM and OMG if the BW is available.
As this is my last custom build and my 75th birthday present to myself we all spent a good deal of time on the wood selection…….All seem very pleased with the final choice of VSOP Blackwood and Moon Spruce.
Watch his face and look at his body language as he plays…….
He called me this morning . He wanted me to know how excited he was about our guitars potential…..He brought a bit of light into my day.
