Hello and I am new to SantaCruzGuitarPlayers.com. I am on a few other sites of other guitars and technical matters, but naturally if I didn’t come across what I feel like is a genuine Santa Cruz guitar, I wouldn’t have stopped in for visits!
A friend of mine was funding a recording project and decided he had to part with his 000 from Santa Cruz. Truth be told I don’t think it was out of the case much in 15 years. He has several fantastic guitars and this one is also so beautiful it seems a bit daunting to remove from the bullet proof safe, called that guitar case; um.. it has a serial number too! Wow.
So yes, I am the one who purchased this one, made in 2011, the best I can tell. It is so darned pretty that everyone I know agrees with me that it just may be the most beautiful guitar ever made in a traditional manner, in a traditional size, and with well… maybe not so traditional woods, but they are probably in the walnut, spruce and ebony varieties, perhaps a touch of rosewood, and what I think may be maple purfling.
So having opened all that out – where do you think is the best place for me to post some photos to get a better idea on just what my wife purchased (it was a surprise)? This forum? Or would the forum regarding all the great wood materials be better? I’ve sent them in to the service@, I tried “just” sending in to the contact page, and I have called and spoke to real people. Nice, really nice people, but they have relayed to me just how hard it is to research one guitar out of so very many in 50 years, and I think I’ve hit dead ends identifying exactly what woods and sources I could have here, i.e. is it Adirondack Spruce? German Spruce? Swiss moon phase? And the mahogany… what do we think we have here? It’s so beautifully (yeah, I know that’s a repeat x 3 or four, but it’s true), and I so want to learn more about it. I know I didn’t purchase it new, nor order it myself, but I do know what store DID order it, and I also know who eventually became the first owner besides the builder or the store owner!
So okay – where should I post some photos so we collectively play Columbo goes to Santa Cruz and figure it out ourselves?
Fun and thank you for indulging,
mark

Welcome Mark,
If you email the shop with the serial number, they can give you full details. Give them a few days to respond, here’s the email. service@santacruzguitar.com
that being said, please post some pictures, the hive here has a lot of knowledge, but the shop is the full story . If you drop a mirror in the sound hole, see if you can find the initials of the person who voiced the top, always fun.your first picture posting will require moderation, but I’ll keep me eye out and make them public.
welcome to the family and go play that guitar.
