        Richard and Tad,

I understand that you are planning a new podcast with Richard. If there is time would you please ask if there has been any thought about producing nickel or monel low tension strings.

        Thanks,

        Walter

                    Hey Walter,

There is an answer waiting for you in the new SCGC podcast, I think it’s about 2/3 of the way through but your milage may vary, it’s really interesting listening to Richard and Rick talk strings

                      Richard,

Thanks for bringing up the question about monel strings with Richard. I do understand and certainly respect his reasoning. For me it is about the sound of monel vs a new set of bronze wound.  After hearing Richard’s take about not pursuing a medium tension set in monel, I’ll continue to be satisfied with waiting for the bronze to break in fully and lose that new string edge. Love the woody sound that they ultimately achieve that is similar to the monels, just dislike the wait!

                      Patiently waiting, 🙂

                      Walter

Well, I thought I asked this the other day, but don’t see the question…
                        It concerns the DADGAD set…
Is it safe, tensionwise,  to use them on an OMPW and ocassionally tune up to standard?
Or is that too much tension?
I’ve got a most-DADGAD guitar with a few songs in standard.
Any harm keeping it in standard sometime?

                            Hi Eric,

I just got a chance to talk to Richard, here’s what he said “the low tension DADGAD are 169 pounds of tension, the mediums are 182 pounds. It’s safe to tune up to that but he said he wouldn’t recommend leaving it tuned up for an extended period of time though”. Hope this helps

                            Hey Eric,

I don’t think I missed it but it’s kind of crazy here. I’ll ask and see what ones back, stay tuned
