All three Tone Poems are musical classics. Thanks for the reminder!

Yesterday I listened to the new Norman Blake tribute album by Bob Minner. It features an allstar cast of pickers and singers each with their own interpretation of a Blake classic. Album is titled “From Sulphur Springs to Rising Fawn: The Songs of Norman Blake”
I know that it’s not a blast from the past, but a great new listen.

So it’s “old music Thursday”?
Then I’ll add I ahve been re-listening to Led Zep 4 for the first time in a very long time. I’m digging side 2 way more now than I did when I was a teenager.
🙂

Led Zep flashback… I went to see them live in the early 70s at the coliseum in Macon, GA.
Macon has a significant musical history, we used to go to Central City Park on Sundays to listen to the Allman Bros play before they were discovered, Duane & Greg Allman, I thought Berry Oakley on bass was the most impressive, he was a huge talent.
Otis Redding was also from Macon, went to his funeral. Still think that ‘Sittin on the Dock of the Bay’ is forever a classic. 🙂 bert

Bert,
I’ve spent my time down by the Railroad tracks in Macon, great vibes in that community

Rich, you know the place. Little Richard was the first big name from Macon, he was a mess to say the least but holy cow could he get a crowd jumpin. This pic was from the time I was checkin out the Allman Bros in ~1969:
