            Whats that top one? I’ve not seen anything like that – the bottom one looks kinda Shubb hybrid.

              No real clue.

              The top one is labelled LENO on the face.  It’s brass and well-made.

              The bottom one was made in Japan and looks indeed like the same type of mechanism as a Shubb, but less sophisticated.

              I’ve been playing the Leno on my Arrow G5 for a couple of nights.  It’s pretty cool.  Playing G scales 2 frets up imparts a lovely bell-like tone.  My mando likes it!

                They’re something that I came across as a stroke of luck, and figured Daniel would make better use of them than I would.  The LENO is apparently some sort of legendary bluegrass cap that is said to work with either mandolin or thin-neck banjo, and has a wicked cool clasp to hold the bar down, and all the padding so you don’t ding the neck.

                The other one is just….neat. It can put a lot of clamping force on the neck for sure.
