Hopefully this is the right place to post this.

I finally caved and purchased the Royer 121 Ribbon Microphone that has been haunting me for some time.  I am thrilled with it.  I used to be thrilled with my MikTel C5 small diaphragm condensor for recording acoustic guitars.  The C5 created a bit of a stir when it came out a couple of years ago.  It turns out that the difference between these two microphones is like night and day - to my ears at least.  And I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to buy the Royer.

The first two tracks are recorded with my OM/PW.  The first is through the C5 and the second through the Royer.

The last track is the VS through the Royer.

All tracks are flat through a Demeter VTMP-2B tube preamp to Cubase.  No EQ tweaks and the like.

Sounds good through the crappy little speakers on my MacBook!
(Isn't that the acid test these days?) Smiley
