A nice little 8 minute primer on recorder/flute, shawm, and bassoon.  Pretty fun actually.  It's an interview with a professor at USC.
Pay attention to: 1) the remark about tuning on the shawm and 2) the directionality of the sound of the instruments.

Ahhh...The 'ol *esoterica vocational musical life*, huh?  Last time I wished, I went straight for the throat.  I just wished for the cash.
