OK Chris.  I will.

In the meantime, I'll work on some more YouTube vids, and write some tunes (writing is harder work btw).  Maybe a less "live" room will improve the balance on the mic in my Flip video camera.

More videos soon guys.  I need to get through the next 2 days, grade midterms, and practice more.  You did catch that little flub at the top of the solo, right?   Roll Eyes  FWIW, I thought the recovery was so good that the flub could stay.  Smiley

Bob,
At 20.5" that's an octave mandolin or a cittern, no?
The scale length on my Weber is 17", a length popular with the celtic players.

Daniel, there is a lot of confusion going around on this stuff. my take is that 17" is octave mandolin, 20"-ish is mandola or cittern scale, 23-25"-ish is bouzouki. more than four courses is cittern. so mine is mandola or four course cittern. http://www.mandolincafe.com/archives/howtotell.html#mandola
and another take on it http://www.xs4all.nl/~hspeek/bouzouki/
http://www.ceolas.org/instruments/cittern.html   annd http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandolin
so what you wanna call anything is your choice, as there is no hard and fast. if it won't make you crazy, why do it   Grin

Whatever it's called, it's a cool instrument.  And Daniel, amazing playing....so good.  Yes, I'd buy a CD in a heartbeat.

MD,
The UK and the US have different names for the same instrument.  I think it comes from the the fact that the US was using these instruments in orchestras playing light classical music and the UK has always been about using these instruments in folk music.
US = UK
mandolin = mandolin
mandola = tenor mandola
octave mandolin = mandola
mandocello = mandocello (not a UK trad instrument to my knowledge)

The mandola I have has a 17" scale length.  Yours is a 20.5" which, depending on tuning, would make it an octave mandolin here and a mandola there.

Matt,
<whew> OK where's my engineer?  Someone point me in the direction of a good studio in northern Cal.  Smiley

Daniel - if you are looking for a studio in NorCal, Jim Nunally has a good rep and has recorded a bunch of folks you know and like.  http://www.jimnunally.com/studio.html
