I’ll start this section off with a short note. I ordered a Custom OM Grand in September that is scheduled for completion by the end of March. It’s been great working with Carolyn and the team. I am stoked! Here are the specs.

    European top (No Run-Out)
    Hide Glue w/ Adirondack Braces
    1-3/4” nut – (Standard)
    2-1/4” bridge spacing
Koa Bound Body, Neck, & Peghead
    Koa rosette
    Purfle combo border
Nickel Waverly Tuners w/ Ebony Buttons
Blank Fingerboard – with an inlay @ the 12th fret

Santa Cruz Guitar Co. has some stunning Cocobolo! That deep ruby red to black of Cocobolo sure offer a delicious alternative to Brazilian.
You are going to be stoked for sure.

Will it have scalloped or tapered bracing? I have a 1991 OM with tapered bracing and it’s smooth and even, just lovely-sounding.

Some of the old members will remember when I received my 1934 D Zorro Edition at the 40th birthday party at SCGC.
The guitar was presented to me by Mr. Hoover, Carolyn Sills and Gerard Egan.
Followed by a Jam with 3 great guys in a park near the shop.
    It was a memory !!
If any of the participants kept photos of the jam, please post.
Anyone having a custom build by SCGC is going to have a wonderful experience.

Can’t find a pic of the jam (but do remember!) – but I found a pic of ECs FTC just as it was ready to ship back to him after the restoration. Thats Mike from Sylvan, holding it up on front of an original pic of Eric playing it – just to try posting a pic –Eric Claptons FTC with pic of him playing it

    Thanks Zorro,

I’ve never recorded and posted before, so here’s a first for me. I simply recorded to my iPhone using voice recorder with no edit functions — straight up one take to see if I could figure out how to post using SoundCloud (I was able to do this on AGF) That’s all I’ve got right now and it’s pretty poor. It’s very compresssed with “dirty” playing & it doesn’t begin to do the guitar justice. Here’s one with fingers (Love Hurts) and one with a pick (What a Wonderful World, capo on 2nd fret). I’m looking into some “real” equipment& software.

You got the character and quality of the instrument just fine – that is definitely a lifetime guitar, incredibly tasteful and refined in all aspects. Hard to believe now, but it actually will get even better just by playing it lots and lots and lots –  what a great thing!
